Divine mathematics: 3 = 4 = 6
Only three disciples were given the privilege of seeing Jesus transfigured. He gathered to him only Peter, James and John. Only they saw the brilliance of his glory. Peter's response, as usual, was immediate! 'It is good for us to be here'. Indeed it was! Then came the Voice from heaven: 'This is my well-believed Son, hear him'.
Just three people – with Jesus at the centre – and Peter says, 'It is good for us to be here'. The three disciples are told: 'Hear him'.
The heavenly Voice commanded, 'Hear him'. Not 'Look at him'. Although we cannot see him, we hear him best when we're gathered in his name; even two or three. Ours is the privilege of gathering to hear him. We may be few, but we are a greatly privileged few! It is good for us to be here! Each Sabbath Jesus was in the synagogue. He's our example. 'Hear him' - 'Do not to neglect to meet together'. 'Jesus, we love you, so we gather here'.
So where there are three believers gathered in the name of Jesus, he is there. Where the Son is so too is the Father and so too the Holy Spirit: 3 = 4 = 6 - and we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses! 'Fear not little flock, it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom' (Luke 12.32).
